Studio Policies

CODE OF CONDUCT:

Class by nature should command the respect of the instructor and the art of dance.  Discipline and courtesy such as being respectful, readiness throughout the class carries over to a positive classroom environment.  Dancers cannot leave the classroom until the class is officially dismissed by the instructor, also acknowledging the instructor with “Thank You” shows proper classroom etiquette.  Proper respect for the staff and fellow students is expected from all students and parents.  Most important please send your child to dance prepared to learn, dressed according to code with hair pulled back and dance shoes in a dance bag. Please label all shoes and bags with names!

ATTIRE:

Please go to our BDS Dance Shop to view your child's recommended class attire.  For your child’s benefit, the dress code will be strictly monitored.

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance is very important to get the best possible training.  Parents, please discourage absenteeism, but if you must miss: please call the studio as soon as possible at  419-977-2748.

MAKE-UP CLASSES:

If your dancer misses class due to illness or other personal reasons, they will be able to make up the missed class in a similar class. There will be no discount or refund given for missed classes. There are no make-ups for classes missed when the studio is officially closed for holidays, etc. All classes missed due to inclement weather can be made up at your convenience using our existing class schedule.

TUITION:

Tuition and registration fees are Non-Refundable and Non-Transferable. Boyd Dance Studios runs on a nine-month academic year.   Classes run from September through May. Fees are based on a calendar year, and therefore some months may have more or fewer classes. There are no deductions for shorter months.

Notification to withdraw: CLASSES MUST BE DROPPED BY EMAIL BY THE FIFTEENTH OF THE MONTH in order to stop tuition payment for the following month. No exceptions.  BDS observes the following holidays in which there are no classes: Thanksgiving Day and Winter Break. The total value of lost dance days due to holidays or holiday breaks has been considered and is reflected in the monthly tuition amount throughout the dance season. There are no additional refunds or credits for missed dance days due to holidays.

CLASS ENROLLMENT:

We reserve the right to cancel any class with 7 or fewer students enrolled. Students in classes with insufficient enrollment will be offered other class choices or given a refund. Please allow 2-3 weeks for refunds to be processed.

WEATHER-RELATED CANCELLATIONS:

In case of inclement weather our policy is that if New Bremen School has a cancellation of “Snow or Ice” ONLY,  dance classes will cancel.  School cancellations due to fog we do not cancel.

STUDENT DROP OFF & PICK UP:

Do not drop off children early. They are unsupervised until they step foot into the studio to start class.  Children under the age of 9 should be accompanied by an adult. Parents instruct your children to always wait indoors for pick up.  Pick children up on time.  Again, after their class is over they are not under any adult supervision.  Small children should be taken to the restroom prior to class to help minimize frequent “potty breaks”

WAITING AREA/ LOBBY:

While attending classes students should respect our “No cell phone zone” policy, cellphones must be turned off & placed in the cell phone cubby at the front desk. Dance shoe bags and other personal items must be placed in the cubby units, not on the floor or on benches in the lobby. Injuries may occur.

FOOD & DRINK:

No gum or candy, soft drinks or juices are allowed in the dance studios. Food and “WATER” are allowed in the lobby ONLY.  It is the responsibility of the child and parent to keep the area clean.  – It’s important that the student stays hydrated while participating in a physically demanding activity such as dance or tumbling, a drinking fountain is provided.  Please treat our facility like the special place that it is.

OBSERVING CLASSES:

We know how important it is that you see the improvement your child is making throughout the dance season.  “Observation” times for all levels of classes are listed on our schedule

ANNUAL RECITAL PERFORMANCE:

All students are invited to participate in our annual recital performance. This is an extension of the benefits derived from the dedication of dance training.  As a part of their participation in the show, students learn showmanship, teamwork, memorization of patterns, choreography but most of all “IT’S FUN!!!”

AWARDS:

Trophy awards are given out to all 5, 10 and 15-year students who have continued/consecutive training. Honorary Awards denote an accumulation of dance experience at Boyd Dance Studios and another facility, dancers will be recognized in our annual spring recital performance.
